Prison officials were investigating Monday the death of an inmate found in the showers of the Arizona State Prison Complex-Lewis facility in Buckeye.
Armando Lugo, 36, was pronounced dead around 10 p.m. Friday after he was found unresponsive in the shower area, the Arizona Department of Corrections said.
Lugo began serving time for first degree burglary in October 2005. His sentence was seven years and six months. Multiple disciplinary infractions had been filed against Lugo in prison since 2007, including assault, disobeying order and promoting prison contraband.
Lugo's death was under investigation by the Arizona Department of Corrections' Criminal Investigations Unit.
