A slain Department of Corrections officer's husband will serve 14½ years in prison for fatally shooting her last year.

John Berry Martin, 53, of Buckeye, was sentenced April 23, according to Maricopa County Superior Court documents. He was indicted on second-degree murder charges a year earlier, but a jury convicted him of manslaughter on March 11 after a seven-day trial
