On 1-19-10 a day shift Officer at PHX Complex was conducting routine checks on "D" run (one of our transportation runs). The Officer opened the door to a single man room & was immediatly punched in the face by an inmate. the Officer and the inmate fought briefly until a COIII, who was also on the floor, arrived and assisted the Officer. the inmate suffered no lasting injuries, of course, but the Officer may have suffered a broken nose and the COIII had cuts on his face as well. this is just another fine example that we Officers are constantly putting our lives on the line everyday without the benefit of modern defensive equipment and Central Office JUST DOESN"T CARE. |
