had to change my login name cuz I forgot my damn password :l anyways I posted the first blog on the "B-ward" heading and I promissed to keep y'all updated on ASPC-PHX. for those of you who have never been to PHX complex it's like no other complex in the state. we have 2 missions: our first mission is to receive inmates from county/city/federal or other jurisdictions and process them into the AZ state prison system (and transport them through out the state), we also take parole violators that local PD picks up straight off of the street and process them back into prison. because of that we get a lot of inmates that are drunk/high and combative. our Second mission is to act as the mental health institution for the state prison system and because of that we get inmates that are violent/aggressive/prone to self harm. because of our first mission we do bussiness more like a county jail than a state prison. like I said before PHX is like no other prison in the state, but it's a blast working there! because the inmates we take in are either straight from county, fresh off of the streets, and/or f**king crazy we have A LOT of uses-of-force. an Officer on Graveyard shift, just last Thursday, walked into a 16 man cell and was attacked by an inmate. it was only through dumb luck that this officer wasn't serriously hurt. but that's just bussiness as usual at PHX complex. what I want to know is: when is Central Office going to give us the ability/tools we need to do our job safely. if we are going to do bussiness like a county jail shouldn't we have the same tools Detention Officers have to do the job right? let me know what y'all think.
