Yeah... not specific information, but a good philosophy to go by:
Quit being a pussy.
You were not hired to work "only at Morey" or "only main control" or "only in a control room" or "only tower." You were never told otherwise. Is there a problem with rotation? "Well gee, I won't be able to hang out with my buddies." You should either keep working and not hanging out, or make new buddies just as you did when you first came to your unit.
Seriously, what the fuck is the complaint?
Oh, now that the 5 year rotation is for all staff, it's a bad thing? When it was Wardens, DW's, ADW's and other upper echelon, it was great! Well, guess what? Now you can't mark your territory and stash your pillows, AM/FM radios, alarm clocks and other miscellaneous items you used to catch up on sleep, no matter what shift you work. As a supervisor, I have seen these things on EVERY yard! I have taken so many articles, and contacted complex to let them know what is coming through the ingress points, and been given the "Oh, well!" speech. Gee, maybe complex should be first on the rotation schedules?

My main question on the 5 year rotation is “Why now?” I have no issue with a 5 year rotation plan, but it should be done continuously. Earmarking all of the 5 year plus Officers and then moving them at the same time is inherently dangerous. We are now being subjected to diminished staff conditions and Ryan wants to gut the corporate knowledge and yard experience out of the units all at the same time? What kind of leadership thinking is that? Even a layman knows there is more to learn on a yard than just policy. Learning how the team on a shift functions collectively takes time. Once a team gels, they “just know” what to do and when to do it. Team dynamics go through 4 stages: forming, storming, norming, and then performing. Bouncing all the 5 year Officers to another yard on some D-day will produce the largest amount of the “storming phase”. Some teams will never get passed this phase due to the physiological make-up of the team members or there are too many informal leaders. Others will be too pissed off to care due to unmet personal concerns. Supervisors will have their hands full of people issues. It will be a dangerous time for us all. Ryan must know this, so what is his motive?????? My 2 cents: Director Ryan is in constant pursuit of reducing the financial footprint of the Department Of Corrections. The 5 year Officers are easy targets for a quantified cost saving measure he is not likely to abandon. No doubt his financial bean counters are working overtime on other game plans and have already determined the percentage of Officers who will quit once this plan is executed. Arizona State is in “survival mode”. This fact no doubt places capital saving proceedings as a primary objective. The vision of unmatched professional security within our gates has been discarded like yesterdays newspapers.
Wonder how long Florence North Unit officers have worked there on day shift?
