The Arizona Legislature and Director Ryan are guilty of Deliberate Indifference. They knowingly turn their heads and look the other way when it comes to safety regarding the true conditions that exist in the prison system. In the legislators defense (during their visits) they are led around the prison like puppy dogs by prison administrators to choice spots on the unit, avoiding anything that may cause embarrassment. Here's an idea for you legislators, next time you visit, ignore the newly polished floors, interview officers in private inside the control rooms (lots of them) and leave a business card so they can contact you if they feel the need. I find it amazing that anyone could visit a prison while observing only one officer watching 200+ inmate alone an not see what's wrong with this picture? Some officers are watching well more then double that on occasions, Due to SHORT staffing levels, yes that's short staffing levels. Here's another idea, why don't you ask to see the actual postings on each yard for the last six months. Then ask why the don't go under ICS when the fall below critical levels? One officer, should not be held accountable to watch two buildings at the same time. You need a magic want and superman outfit to do be two places at the same time. These items are not allocated in the budget either. DO SOMETHING USEFUL!
